Kenya Re was delighted to host Mary Wangare Wamae author of The Village Girl and Co-Author of She Leads, as the eleventh guest speaker for its winner’s mentality on Thursday 7th November 2024. Ms. Wamae is a multi-award winner author who has been recognized for her unique roles in exhibiting exemplary leadership qualities through promoting impacting gender diversification and inclusion.
Ms. Wamae based her talk squarely on her book - The Village Girl and her experience at Equity Bank where she offered a rare glimpse into her process of success. She inspired staff to determine what winning looks like for them and encouraged them to recognize and know their purpose, work harder than the average person, take lessons from all quarters and go the extra mile and take risks.
Her unwavering determination to overcome immense setbacks especially during Equity’s regional expansion saw her give our “expansion committee” tips and nuggets on what to look out for when considering establishing of footprints in different regions. The lively session left staff inspired and motivated to work hard.
Our Group Managing Director - Dr. Hillary Wachinga, spearheaded the session and encouraged staff to have a positive attitude especially when faced different challenges as it ignites a sense of creativity and purpose when solving problems.
