The Corporation played host to the Association of the Kenya Professional Insurance Agents (AKPIA) top leadership on Thursday 7th November 2024.
The meeting, which was spearheaded by our Group Managing Director - Dr. Hillary Wachinga, was a positive step towards re-establishing the connection and understanding of the roles of the insurance agents and their contribution up to the reinsurance level.
The primary objectives of the meeting were to:
- Clarify the Business Process: Explain the entire business process, from the agents to the reinsurance companies, to ensure a clear understanding of the value chain.
- Highlight the Importance of Profitable Business: Emphasize the significance of identifying profitable business opportunities for agents. This is crucial as it attracts the attention of reinsurance companies.
- Foster Collaboration: Seek to establish a strong collaborative relationship between Kenya Re and the association to work together towards mutual goals.
- Identify Training Needs: Assess the training requirements of the agents and explore the potential of utilizing the Kenya Re Academy to address these needs.
AKPIA’s mandate is to promote and represent the interest of the insurance agents and to strengthen the insurance agency force in Kenya while leading and enhancing the efforts of the insurance agents to become recognised professionals and trusted as important partners to the insurance sector, society and the entire Kenyan economy. The GMD emphasized on the need of collaborative efforts to ensure continuous upskilling of agents to equip them with the necessary knowledge to enhance insurance penetration in the country.
