Kenya Re sponsored the 2nd Annual Bancassurance Conference organized by Bancassurance Association of Kenya (BAK) from 17th to 20th July 2024 at Southern Palms Hotel, Ukunda, south coast of Kenya. The conference, that was themed ‘Bancassurance and sustainability: Bancassurance and sustainability: Driving financial inclusion in Kenya through innovative insurance solutions’ recorded an impressive attendance of several bank and insurance companies Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) as well as 170 participants in total from the insurance and banking sectors.
The Corporation’s Group Managing Director, (GMD), Dr. Hillary Wachinga, was the chief guest at the conference. The GMD was represented at the conference by Manager, Marketing, Business Development & Kenya Re Training Academy Coordinator, Lucy Kagwiria. In his keynote address, read out by the Manager, Marketing, the GMD noted that the sponsorship is a commitment to deepening the partnership with BAK. He remarked that the engagements with BAK have continued to border around collaboration on innovation, product development as well as capacity building through specialized trainings offered by Kenya Re’s training Academy. Dr. Wachinga expressed his confidence in the partnership with BAK as it shall close the existing information gap between reinsurers and bancassurance entities.
On behalf of Kenya Re Group Managing Director, Dr. Hillary Wachinga, our Manager, Customer Service Relationship - Mr. Linus Kowiti, made a brilliant presentation regarding Bancassurance from a Kenya Re perspective. His presentation touched on understanding Bancassurance in the Kenyan context, the power of bancassurance for financial inclusion, Kenya Re’s innovations in Bancassurance and the future of Bancassurance. Mr. Kówiti’s presentation also highlighted Kenya Re’ s remarkable performance in 2023 resulting into 53% growth in profit .
Our Manager, Local Business – Mrs. Elizabeth A. Omondi, was also part of the Kenya Re delegation that attended and participated in the conference.
