The Managing Director (MD), Dr. Hillary M. Wachinga on 19th May 2023 hosted the first breakfast meeting of the year for Heads of Reinsurance Brokerage firms at the 16th Floor Boardroom of Reinsurance Plaza, Nairobi. Over ten reinsurance brokerage firms were in attendance. The main agenda of the breakfast meeting was to reassure the reinsurance brokers of the solid business capability of the Corporation as a reinsurer. The MD underscored the Corporation’s commitment to agility and efficiency towards upholding service excellence in all operations.
The breakfast meeting consisted of a series of presentations from Kenya Re led by the MD, who gave a strategic overview of the business. GM – Property & Administration, Mr. Michael Mbeshi, made a presentation on the property investments portfolio and interested the brokers to take up space in the Corporation’s owned properties. GM– Reinsurance Operations, Mrs. Beth Nyaga, Manager, Research & Development, Mr. Martin Mati and Assistant Manager – Local Business - Mr. Linus K’owiti each made a presentation on the reinsurance business. Manager, Actuarial – Mr. Phillip Sanda made a presentation on Actuarial & IFRS 17 while Ag. Manager, Risk & Compliance – Ms. Hellen Okanga made a presentation on ERM, money laundering and data protection.
During the meeting, the MD invited the brokerage heads to partner in various areas such as capacity building through technical training, risk management, CAT modelling and data quality enhancement.
