Mr. Patrick Wanjelani

Mr. Patrick Wanjelani is the Board Chairman of Kenya Reinsurance Corporation Zambia Limited and was appointed to the board on 26th March 2019. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of Newgen Holdings Limited, a financial consultancy, risk management and construction company.

He holds a master’s degree in business administration MBA, from the Oxford Brooks University of the United Kingdom, he is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Accountants (ACCA), United Kingdom, a fellow of the Zambia Institute of Certified Accountants (ZICA) and holds two diplomas also from the UK in Professional Accounting and Business Administration. In addition, he has trained in ‘Leadership for the Cutting Edge’ from GIBS University South Africa.

Mr. Wanjelani has extensive experience in banking and finance, accumulated over 30 years. His experience includes organizational change and transformation, financial planning, and corporate governance.

Mr. Wanjelani is also currently the board director for Zambia National Commercial Bank Plc (ZANACO) and chairs the Risk Management and Compliance Committee there. He is a director of Kumil Energy Limited, Newgen Construction Limited and is a non-executive director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research (CIDRZ) board and Blue Light Risk Management Limited. He has previously held positions of Head Assets Liability Management (ALM) at Barclays Africa Treasury in Johannesburg and Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director at Barclays Bank Zambia Plc. He has also been Board Chairman of the Rural Electrification Authority (REA), a board member of ZESCO Limited, Real Estate Investments Zambia Plc and the Lusaka Water Supply & Sanitation Company, where he was Chairman of the Audit Committee.
