The lush green and modern 18-Hole Championship Golf Course of the Muthaiga Golf Club, proudly called the Home of Golf by its elite membership was host to the Kenya Re Corporate Golf Day on Friday, 22nd September 2023. The course hosted over 200 golfers comprising of industry players, customers, corporate tenants, business partners, top shareholders and investors as well as senior Muthaiga Golf Club members. Royal Nairobi Golf Club player Wallace Nganga emerged winner of the 2023 Golf Tournament. Playing off handicap 25, Nganga carded 20 points in the first nine and 24 at the back nine to emerge overall winner on 44 stableford points, beating Edward Manywanda of Railways Golf Club on countback. Mr. Steve Okundi, CEO Africa Merchant Assurance Co. Ltd, clinched the title of the Best Insurance Industry golfer with an impressive score of 40 Stableford points. Mr. Linus Kówiti, Assistant Manager – Local Business, clinched the staff prize showcasing his golf prowess with a score of 33 stableford points.
The Corporate Golf day was one of a kind as it was graced by the Principal Secretary – National Treasury, Dr. Chris Kiptoo, CBS, as the chief guest, Central Bank of Kenya Governor, Dr. Kamau Thugge E.B.S., M.B.S.,C.B.S, Former Finance Minister and Leader of Majority Party in the 12th Parliament, Hon. Dr. Amos Kimunya, FCPA, EGH, MP and High Commissioner of Malaysia, to the Republic of Kenya, H.E Ruzaimi Bin Mohamad. The Board Chairman, Hon. Catherine Kimura, Group Managing Director – Dr. Hillary Wachinga and Board Directors, Mr. Eric Gumbo, Mr. Irungu Kirika and Mr. David Muthusi also attended the golf tournament.
