The Corporation organized a technical workshop for Reinsurance Managers from local (Kenya) Insurance Companies on 16th to 18th June 2023 at Diani Reef Beach Resort & Spa. The theme of the workshop was “Kenya Re -A listening company”. The agenda of this successful workshop was networking with the Reinsurance Managers and soliciting for business. A total of 30 insurance companies were represented and a total of 43 participants attended the workshop. The workshop was officially opened by our Managing Director (MD) – Dr. Hillary Wachinga. The MD reaffirmed to participants the Corporation’s commitment to offer excellent services. He assured them of availability to support in business and technical capacity building.
There were two panel discussions; first part being a session where panelists gave presentations by bringing out pertinent issues in the industry. Then the second part was an open forum for discussions. Some of the topics discussed were: Actuarial Role – Pricing, Actuarial valuation, costing, modelling, Reinsurance Optimization, State of implementation of IFRS 17 and IFRS 9, Reinsurance Solutions, Emerging trends in the insurance sector, Climate risk management, Cyber risk management and many others. The workshop facilitators were MD, Dr. Wachinga, General Manager – Reinsurance Operations, Beth Nyaga, Manager Actuarial – Phillip Sanda and Assistant Manager – Local Business, Mr. Linus Kówiti. The organizers were: Manager, Marketing & Business Development – Jane Odipo, Assistant Manager, Marketing & Business Development - Susan Kandie, Senior Underwriter – Robert Namunane, Underwriter - Everlyn Kamau and Assistant Underwriter, Leonard Kipngetich.
