The Kenya Re training Academy on Wednesday, 21st February 2024 conducted two trainings on COMESA Yellow Card and another on Claims Management. This is the fourth and Fifth training conducted in the Academy this year, a good stride for the Academy in its pursuit of excellence.

The trainings recorded commendable participation of 40 participants drawn from over 25 diverse Insurance/reinsurance companies, brokers as well as our own staff from Kenya Re who were interested in gaining insights on the two topics.  The trainings attracted the attendance of Claims Management professionals, Underwriters, Finance personnel, ICT professionals, Customer Experience personnel and others.

The participants were delighted to learn on Claims Management from Mr. Joel Irungu, Acting Assistant Manager – Claims Management department who took the participants through a smooth & excellent deep dive into Claims Management by covering areas on claims recoveries, claims treaty clauses, claims documentation and the entire claims process. On the other hand, Mr. Robert Namunane – Senior Underwriter & Coordinator for the National Bureau of Kenya for COMESA Yellow Card, did a superb presentation on COMESA Yellow Card. In line with the Bureau’s mandate, Mr. Namunane took participants through Claims handling of COMESA Yellow Card matters, underwriting process, ICT COMESA Yellow Card related matters and generally created spot on awareness of the COMESA Yellow Card through the training.

The Seminar was officially opened by Ms. Lucy Kagwiria - Manager, Marketing & Business Development & Kenya Re Training Academy Coordinator, who underscored the Corporation’s commitment to training and capacity building across all insurance/reinsurance related topics both locally and internationally. Mr. Hassan Omuroka, Acting Assistant Manager – Local Business officially closed the training on behalf of the General Manager, Reinsurance Operations, Mrs. Beth Nyaga. Mr. Omuroka thanked the participants for attending the training and encouraged them to continue being in pursuit of knowledge through the Training Academy.

Also in attendance at the training was Staff from the Marketing & Business Development department who coordinated the required logistics of the training.
