Kenya Reinsurance Corporation Limited Group Managing Director (GMD), Dr. Hillary Maina Wachinga, on 18th July 2024, hosted a meeting that featured a senior guest from Echo Reinsurance Limited in Zurich, Switzerland; Cana Nabachwa – Chief Underwriting Officer in charge of Sub-Saharan Africa market. She was accompanied by Fredrick Omondi, Simon Karani and Mary Wanjiru from Reinsurance Solutions, a key Kenya Re partner in reinsurance broking services.
The meeting discussed opportunities for business engagement in Kenya Re’s retrocession program. Ms. Cana highlighted Echo Re’s improvement in their rating from A- to A (stable). She shared Echo Re’s focused strategy on the growth and development of the African market portfolio. Ms. Cana’s committed to participate in Kenya Re’s retrocession program in the next renewals as well as partner in technical capacity building to upskill the global reinsurance industry.
Kenya Re’s GMD, Dr. Wachinga, appreciated Ms. Cana for the visit and expressed his zeal for a partnership with highly rated reinsurers such as Echo Re. He also appreciated the shared vision of growing the reinsurance business through the African market portfolio.
In this meeting, Kenya Re Group MD was joined by Assistant Manager – Marketing & Business Development, Susan Kandie as well as Acting Assistant Manager – International Treaty Business, Benson Nderitu.
