The Kenya Re Training Academy held a comprehensive training session on the Principles of Life Assurance Underwriting on Thursday, 7th March 2024 that recorded a commendable attendance of 35 participants from the local insurance landscape that are actively engaged in Life Assurance business. It was a one-of-a-kind training that proved to be a significant learning opportunity.
Led by Kenya Re’s Life Business team, the training provided valuable insights into life underwriting principles. Yoves Angwenyi, Acting Manager of Life Business and Richard Jilani, our very own experienced Life underwriter, shared their expertise and knowledge with the attendees. In addition to their contributions, Fraciah Wanjiku, our seasoned actuary and reinsurance specialist, led an immersive session on life products and gave a comprehensive overview of reinsurance.
The seminar commenced with opening remarks from Ms. Lucy Kagwiria, Manager, Marketing & Business Development, and Coordinator of Kenya Re Training Academy. She emphasized Kenya Re's dedication to training and capacity building, highlighting its importance in the insurance and reinsurance sectors.
In addition to the participants, staff from the Life Business as well as the Marketing & Business Development departments attended and played a vital role in coordinating the logistics of the training, ensuring its success. The training session served as a platform for industry professionals to enhance their understanding of life assurance underwriting, further contributing to the growth, development and advancement of the insurance sector in Kenya.
