Samuel Ruugia

Samuel K. Ruugia is Kenya Re’s head of information communication and technology.
He oversees delivery of technologies that will position Kenya Re as a market leader
in its markets while meeting its strategic objectives.
He is a data engineer and IT expert with over 15 years industry experience, skilled in
designing, developing and application of technologies in database administration, systems
administration, business analysis, IT infrastructure scoping and management, data science,
Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and IT in general to improve business processes
efficiency and improve customer’s experience through innovation and automation.
He holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from University of Nairobi and BSC
(Computer science and engineering) from Maseno university. He is a certified professional
IBM Data Scientist, Microsoft IT Professional, Oracle certified associate and certified project
manager.
Samuel has extensively worked with the core business functions supporting core systems
like Reinsurance (SICS PC & LIFE) and finance (Oracle-EBS). Before this assignment
Samuel has worked as Systems Administrator/Analyst for Kenya Orient, IT Expert consultant
for COMESA, Senior Database Administrator and Ag Manager Research and developement
for Kenya Re.
